The 14 Amazing Places to Visit in Udaipur

Breath-taking forts and places, mesmerizing markets, rich culture, delicious food, and much more. All these key features make Udaipur a limitless destination to plan a quick getaway. Whether you are planning a solo trip, family tour, or couple vacation, this place caters to your wanderlust. This post is stuffed with my unfiltered travel story to Udaipur that will truly help you unfold the beauty of this place in altogether a different way.

Udaipur is a delightful yet ideal place to plan a getaway for three days. Why three days? I spoke to several travelers who have already visited the place and summed up that this is the average and perfect length to stay here. But after I visited this one-of-a-kind city, I found myself starving for more. We are aware that Rajasthan is well-known for its history, forts, culture, and food. To your surprise, there is much more to it.

Udaipur is one of the most incredible cities in Rajasthan. It is also known as the Venice of the East and it truly justifies this name. This land is chockfull of astonishing lakes, forts, palaces, scenery, and much more. Based on my personal travel experience, let’s find out what things you can do and places to visit in Udaipur if you are planning a short trip to this destination

Dive into the rich culture of Udaipur

Places to Visit in Udaipur

In the year 1559, Maharana Uday Singh established Udaipur city. This place is one of the best tourist destinations in India which is renowned for its rich culture and unique tradition. The city of lakes, Udaipur magnetizes all kinds of tourists to itself. The land of Udaipur was the Rajputs’ favorite. The tradition, culture, and customs that locals follow are quite interesting to know. Not only this, there are so many things you would want to explore before paying a visit to this city. It is a romantic land, so if you are planning a couple’s getaway then this place will not let you down any bit. I saw many youngsters throwing surprise birthday parties for their friends along with their families.  The grand Udaipur forts, City Palace, lake Pichola, lake Badi, Saheliyon Ki Bari, and Gangaur Ghat are a few places that are worth a visit.

If I talk about the present, this city has embraced the urban city’s inspired lifestyle with open arms. Some traditions and one-of-its-kind customs in Udaipur will leave you dumbfounded.

How to reach Udaipur?

Udaipur, the major tourist destination and the biggest city in Rajasthan truly display the Rajput glory. You don’t need to make an extra effort to reach this city as it is well-connected by road, train, and air. Apart from this, there are many buses of Rajasthan State Transport Corporation that regularly operate from almost every city in the country.

By air: You will find several direct flights to Udaipur’s Maharana Pratap Airport from many major cities in the country. For example, air travel from Delhi to Udaipur approximately takes 1.20-1.25 hours. There are many direct flights to Udaipur from other cities as well.

By train: Udaipur railway station is well-connected to all the major city stations in India. For example, train travelers from Delhi get many journey options to Udaipur. You can pick the time well-suited to you. If I talk about myself, I took the night train to Udaipur. The main reason behind choosing this hour of travel was to have the entire day to explore the city. It took 12 hours to reach the city but it didn’t feel long because I got good 8 hours of nap. The main advantage of traveling at the night was getting decent sleep and waking fresh in the morning when I reached my destination.

Ideal Time to visit: October to March.

Now, this was how I reached Udaipur, let us go through the list of best places to visit in Udaipur in 3-days.
