Dwayne Johnson Movies on Netflix

Dwayne Johnson Movies on Netflix You Must See, Ok, maybe it’s Dwayne Johnson for you, but for me, it will always be “The Rock” (WWE music playing in the background)!

In my eyes, I don’t think there is any action hero in recent times that has been legendary as Dwayne Johnson. No offense, but he is one of the major stars in Hollywood at this moment and yes, there are good reasons to say that. This man is a film industry giant.

Recommended The 20 Best New Movies on Netflix Coming

Anyway, this fangirling would go on forever. So, let’s get right to the point of your visit.

If you, like me, enjoy Dwayne Johnson action movies full of mayhem and great stunts and have a Netflix membership (which is obvious), then I am here to give you the 10+ best Dwayne Johnson movies of all time (in no particular order).

So sit back, get a cup of Starbucks coffee, and prepare to “Netflix & Chill” later!

Dwayne Johnson Movies on Netflix

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

The number one pick that comes in our list of Johnson’s top Netflix movies is Jumanji. The plot centers around a bunch of teens who are forced into a game and must adopt new personas in order to break free. The concept and rules of “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” take too long to establish, but once it does, it’s one of the greatest knocking blockbuster movies in living recollection, with an explosive performer (Johnson, Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black) going to pull dual obligation both as there own cliched multimedia personalities and the distinctly new people trapped within these bodies. The combat is clever, the comedy usually works, and Johnson is excellent as a geek who struggles to see himself as a warrior.

Jumanji: The Next Level

Jumanji: The Next Level

Johnson is once more portrayed as a video game character in Jake Kasdan’s wacky sequel to the blockbuster success “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” but this time he’s getting “controlled” by Danny DeVito, an aging man who enjoys possessing a youthful, muscular physique. It’s a wise idea, but Johnson doesn’t quite capture DeVito’s unique quirkiness, and his dialect is horribly inaccurate. Nonetheless, “Jumanji: The Next Level” is a mainly pleasant sequel, with exhilarating fight scenes, creative concepts, and challenging themes like mortality, sadness, and secular humanism – issues that, unfortunately, require more examination than what this relative’s fiction can provide.

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island

You’d be an idiot to overlook this! This amazing sequel to “Journey to the Center of the Earth” features Johnson as a stepfather who leads his children on an unbelievable excursion to a Computer – generated imagery island filled with massive and giant species of birds that dung on Luis Guzmán as he’s on a big insect. Everybody appears to have merely come to earn their salary, yet “Journey 2” has one of Johnson’s most memorable on-screen times: “The Pec-Pop of Love,” wherein he rebounds a fruit off his heart and into the crowd, making full use of 3-D.

Central Intelligence

Central Intelligence

Kevin Hart was indeed the popular guy in junior high, and Johnson was the tormented child. Years later, they reunited at a reunion, and it comes up Johnson is now a global mega while Hart has become an uncharismatic business machine. They eventually end up rescuing the planet collectively. On paper, it seems a little bland, however, “Central Intelligence” is a truly charming, very amusing film that investigates the long-term ramifications of school maltreatment. Johnson’s performance in the scene where he faces his jr high torturer and comes apart is one of the greatest in his entire profession.

Red Notice

Red Notice

Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds appear in a crime thriller that seems like a cheap imitation of previous, nicer, lower heist flicks, notwithstanding its reputed $1.2 billion spending plan. Johnson is a government officer who is wrongly convicted of theft, Reynolds is a skilled burglar who meets his unexpected accomplice, and Gadot is a criminal mastermind who is exploiting both of them. There are no jokes, no action sequences that stand out, and all trio of the normally dynamic stars is woefully underused.

Baywatch

Baywatch

We’ve all heard a lot of things about Baywatch (not like the ones seen in F.R.I.E.N.D.S. show =D)! Johnson plays David Hasselhoff in “Baywatch,” a situational spoof on a TV show that likely did not realize it was amusing. This is not an awful notion, and Johnson makes good use of it at times, but the movie’s sick taste of comedy and sloppy caricature undercut any effort at ingenuity. Whether you believe it or not, the movie justifies and deserves so much better.

San Andreas

San Andreas

When the “Big One” strikes Californians, only Johnson can rescue the very day. Yeah, sort of. Johnson portrays a salvage chopper captain who quits his position and takes an aircraft in order to protect his own meager family, possibly at the expense of numerous others. This is not to suggest his motive isn’t comprehensible; it’s merely one of several aspects in this film that crumble under inspection. Nonetheless, San Andreas was evidently not intended to convey a wonderful tale, and as a kitschy extravaganza, it does respectable work.

The Other Guys

The Other Guys

Johnson has been in other policeman comedies where his appearance is a bit like a jest. Don’t believe me? You can also watch Reno 911: Miami for that. However, his presence in Adam McKay’s clever and irreverent The Other Guys movie is a real treat. Johnson appears with Samuel L. Jackson as the noble combat thriller model of federal administration, just to be killed abruptly, causing the other guys who are Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg to occupy the main stage instead. It’s a short bit, but Dwayne dominates it, and the remainder of the film is hilarious as well.

Gridiron Gang

Gridiron Gang

This classic but highly successful athletic film, inside which Johnson transforms youngsters in a correctional facility institution by creating a football club, is Johnson’s greatest real melodrama. Phil Joanou, the filmmaker, does not hold back in sensationalizing the terrible lives of these children with tangible anguish. Nonetheless, Johnson provides an amazing portrayal as the trainer who recognizes he is being controlled by his history, much like his team. The Gridiron Gang movie is built on a real-life tale, and it’s an uplifting one. The picture also illustrates that classic sports cinema formats can succeed, and possibly ever will.

Pain & Gain

Pain & Gain

Pain & Gain, perhaps Michael Bay’s greatest film, features Mark Wahlberg, Anthony Mackie, and Dwayne Johnson as dimwitted heavyweights who abduct a billionaire and quickly find themselves far above their limits. This vicious, sometimes amusing comedy looks like just a Coen Brothers screenplay if helmed by, too, Michael Bay, and his audacity lends the movie a unique and insane style. Oftentimes,  it’s overpowering, but the majority of the time it’s hilarious, and Johnson, as expected, takes the spotlight as a retired conman attempting not to do any more bad stuff and faltering terribly at each and every step.

The Scorpion King

The Scorpion King

Johnson repeats his starring character from Netflix one of the greatest movies, The Mummy Returns, however this time he’s a gallant and amusing twin-blade protagonist in Egyptian Civilization, battling mega-corrupt dictators, collaborating with evil sorcerers, and rescuing the day during a major combat climax. The Scorpion King movie embraces its ridiculousness and looks like something of a pricey pilot for a decent Xena turn. This is by no means a terrible idea as Johnson was born for parts like these and so justified it with his utter performance.

The Mummy Returns

the Mummy Returns

Even though Dwayne Johnson appears in The Mummy Returns, it is difficult to call it a Johnson film. The bare-knuckle boxer appears in the movie for a brief introduction before reappearing at the conclusion as a digital scorpion creature. Though it’s Johnson’s debut significant part in a film, so it merits a mention for that and (because the picture is so rambunctiously strident that it’s difficult to see) for that purpose only.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation

G.I. Joe: Retaliation

Because of anything it’s worthwhile, the follow-up to G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra is far better than the original. The majority of the original characters are murdered in Jon M. Chu’s movie, allowing fresh actors, led by Johnson, to gain the limelight. The villainous group Cobra has seized up Americans and launched a battle on the Joes in the movie, claiming that the sole thing that can thwart them are awesome combat scenes and ridiculous yet amusing story ideas. It remains a heist flick, but it really is entertaining, and the hilltop samurai climax, influenced by the iconic graphic novel tale “Silent Interlude,” deserves the ticket price on its lonesome.

So, that’s all for now with the best Dwayne Johnson Netflix movies! Did you enjoy these picks? Do comment in the comments section below and let me know your thoughts about these!

Happy watching 🙂

The Best 10+ Mark Wahlberg Movies You Must Watch

Published

on

Mark Wahlberg Movies

If you are a fan of Mark Wahlberg’s films, as I am, you will be pleased to learn about his best work, which I have listed in this blog.

Mark Robert Michael Wahlberg, formerly known as Marky Mark started gaining popularity as a debut rapper from “Music for the People” in 1991. He became famous for his chiseled physique and image as a bad boy in no time. As a result, he received modeling offers from Calvin Klein, TV shows, and numerous photo campaigns.

Seeing his fame, he decided to step into the acting career and got his first movie role in 1994 with Renaissance Man. Since then, there is no going back, and the rest is history!

Having said that, I have curated the 10+ best Mark Wahlberg movies based on IMDb rankings, from highest to lowest.

So why wait for more?

Let’s get started!

Disclaimer: The ratings may vary depending on the other movie critics’ websites like Rotten Tomatoes, Tomatometer, and others. I am considering only the IMDb ones.

Best Mark Wahlberg Movies

The Departed (2006)

The Departed (2006)

In retrospect, I can’t dedicate the whole of The Departed movie as Wahlberg’s movie. Also, the movie was really not nearly the killer that everybody believed it to be at the period. It was way too lengthy, very obvious,  and too eager to satisfy some of Jack Nicholson’s ugliest sins. But, good God, when Mark Wahlberg appears, it felt like life brings into the film. He doesn’t appear frequently and, in addition to his final run, nothing he accomplishes is particularly significant, however, the richness he gives to the picture, in general, is apparent. Throughout the movie, Captain Dignam is a bundle of comically unjustifiable rage, and his dialect is as heavy as a plate boundary.

Genre: Drama, Crime, Thriller

Director: Martin Scorsese

Stars: Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Mark Wahlberg

Rating: 8.5/10

Available On: Netflix, Prime Video

Boogie Nights (1997)

Boogie Nights (1997)

After three years of persistent effort, performing little roles, or making blunders, Mark Wahlberg has finally arrived. Isn’t it exciting to see an A-list movie? Boogie Nights is a classic film that has beyond cinema to become a cultural landmark, and Wahlberg’s portrayal as porn actor Dirk Diggler merits as much praise as Paul Thomas Anderson’s storyline, location, or music. In hindsight, Wahlberg’s performance in Boogie Nights acted as both a benefit and a curse; it demonstrated that he could act, while also establishing a bar that he couldn’t expect to match

Genre: Drama

Director: Paul Thomas Anderson

Stars: Mark Wahlberg, Julianne Moore, Burt Raynolds

Rating: 7.9/10

Available On: Prime Video

The Fighter (2010)

The Fighter (2010)

As a huge Mark fan, you would feel a little sorry about him. The narrative centers around his (Mark’s) buddy. How he placed it in his hometown and squandered a handful of years seeking several filmmakers to execute it for him. He ultimately persuaded David O Russell, resulting in the film’s budget being slashed. And after the Sisyphean effort of making the thing was finished, Wahlberg turned out to be the smallest intriguing part of it. In comparison to the grandstanding of Oscar holders, Christian Bale, Melissa Leo, and Amy Adams, Wahlberg’s silent, focused center act was difficult to detect at first. That was a pity as he is always fascinating.

Genre: Action, Biography, Drama

Director: David O. Russell

Stars: Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale, Amy Adams

Rating: 7.8/10

Available On: Prime Video, Netflix

Three Kings (1999)

Three Kings (1999)

BTS hijinks may have undermined Three Kings’ potency – George Clooney is far more eager to explain to whoever will pay heed – which is a pity since the picture stands up remarkably well. It not only maintains its (adult, sarcastic) vantage point in any and all instances, but it also serves as a backdrop for a crazy war escapade. Although he misses Clooney’s intellect and Ice Cube’s natural power, Wahlberg keeps the whole thing intact. As strange as that may sound, he ends up being the only thing you care for in the entire dizzying chaos.

Genre: Action, Adventure, Comedy

Director: David O. Russell

Stars: George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg, Ice Cube

Rating: 7.1/10

Available On: Prime Video

The Italian Job (2003)

The Italian Job (2003)

As a Mark Wahlberg admirer and die-hard fan, you won’t want to recall this dreadful piece from his acting career. Although the first was a legendary piece of British film known for its enigmatic (and figurative) suspense conclusion, the sequel was an uncharismatic pile of mindless drivel that ended with Seth Green purchasing a pair of loudspeakers system meant to be extremely noisy that they might blow a woman’s clothing off. In such a profession when Wahlberg has looked to purposefully seek out poor films, this has always been his poorest. Worst of all time!

Genre: Action, Crime, Thriller

Director: F. Gary Gray

Stars: Mark Wahlberg, Donald Sutherland, Edward Norton

Rating: 7/10

Available On: Netflix, Prime Video

Ted (2012)

Ted (2012)

I don’t want to argue that a movie revolving around a talkative teddy is tacky, but no regardless of how complex the subject appears to be, Wahlberg roots this Boston’s drama with his realism and true Beantown dialect. John (Mark Wahlberg) has had discussions with his conversing stuffed bear Ted ever since he was a toddler, which may strike some alarms in the psychiatric field, yet Wahlberg gives us the impression as it’s the very natural thing in the universe. In fact, the number makes us believe too. The movie grossed more than $500 million worldwide and inspired a much less profitable remake, “Ted 2”.

Genre: Comedy

Director: Seth MacFarlane

Stars: Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, Seth MacFarlane

Rating: 6.9/10

All the Money in the World (2017)

All the Money in the World (2017)

Even though practically all of the attention for this film focused on an already video of Kevin Spacey’s substitute in J. Paul Getty, Mark Wahlberg was quietly providing a sandstone act of Fletcher Chase, a CIA agent, and counsel to the Getty line. When his grandson, J.P. III is abducted, Paul begs Fletcher to dig and bring him back. Fletcher leads the story, along with the abducted teen’s motivated mother Gail, on the persistent hunt to bring the youngster back before they presumably murder him, considering that Paul opposes offering any ransom. While Plummer received an Oscar nod for his major repairs, Wahlberg and Williams are the film’s soul and essence.

Genre: Biography, Drama, Crime

Director: Ridley Scott

Stars: Michelle Williams, Christopher Plummer, Mark Wahlberg

Rating: 6.8/10

Available On: Netflix, Prime Video

I Heart Huckabees (2004)

I Heart Huckabees (2004)

I Heart Huckabees movie falls into those categories that you can see twice only because, one, you’re simply astounded by Mark Wahlberg’s portrayal or, two,  you despise yourself. The one and only thing that gets anywhere near to salvaging I Heart Huckabees is Wahlberg’s lovable fool paramedic Tommy, who dolloped a partially 6th philosophical paper with the type of endless self-righteousness that keeps you up at night. He beams with delight as he mercilessly smacks Jason Schwartzman in the mouth with a catapult that’s also a lot of times faster than everything else in this benighted picture.

Genre: Comedy

Director: David O. Russell

Stars: Jason Schwartzman, Jude Law, Naomi Watts, Mark Wahlberg

Rating: 6.6/10

Available On: Prime Video

The Other Guys (2010)

The Other Guys (2010)

Mark Wahlberg might have made a living out of movies such as The Other Guys if he had grown two decades earlier. The film awkwardly rides the edge between combat and humor – it’s going for Midnight Run but seldom achieves the mark – yet Wahlberg captures the spirit from the start. The entire picture hangs on his every action, which is both macho and ridiculous. Is it now too late to persuade him to do so more frequently?

Genre: Action, Comedy, Crime

Director: Adam McKay

Stars: Mark Wahlberg, Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Derek Jeter

Rating: 6.6/10

Available On: Netflix, Prime Video

Pain & Gain (2013)

Pain & Gain (2013)

Pain & Gain, a moderately interesting Michael Bay picture, paired Wahlberg against Dwayne Johnson in a movie meant to create none of them seem great. It has its highlights as a film. As just a portrayal, this appears to be among the rare instances Wahlberg has chosen to mock his ego with his director.

Genre: Action, Comedy, Crime

Director: Michael Bay

Stars: Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson, Anthony Mackie

Rating: 6.4/10

Available On: Prime Video, Netflix

Date Night (2010)

Date Night (2010)

Mark Wahlberg doesn’t really do much in this Shawn Levy’s rom-com movie. He just simply shows up for a short time with his shirt off. However, it’s a nice representation of what he’s greatest at. He is quiet, open, and basic, conveying a calmness that may be mistaken for stupidity. This is a part with practically no substance, but Wahlberg is aware of this and gleefully embraces it.

Genre: Comedy, Crime, Romance

Director: Shawn Levy

Stars: Mark Wahlberg, Steve Carell, Tina Fey

Nanu ki Jaanu movie review (movie coupons)

Nanu ki jaanu

Bollywood has always amazed us with its choice of bringing two different and contradicting genres together. This time we are about to see an interesting combination of horror and comedy. After ‘Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!’, we will again see Abhay Deol in a similar plot where he is playing the role of con-man. Abhay Deol tries to usurp a flat where a ghost who tries to restore law and order in world accompanies him and the story revolve around this plot. Both the genres are abused in this movie while being hideous and funny together at the same time, which is completely unintentional.

Overall Ratings: This movie gets a poor rating of 1/5 on the scroll.in followed by 2.5 &1.5 on Times of India and Bollywood Hungama respectively.

Star cast: Abhay Deol as Nanu, Manu Rishi Chadha and Patralekhaa as Jaanu.

Directed By: Faraz Haider

The full story of Nanu ki Jaanu movie:

This movie is a perfect example of not so good mixture of horror and comedy. This movie covers the aspects of injustice happening in our society. First, Nanu (Abhay Deol) is introduced who is a thug and along with other men, he runs a scandal in Delhi of usurping flats. However, apart from his ruthless and arrogant character, he tried to save an accident victim by taking him to the hospital. This good deed of him started changing him and he loses his concentration on work, wine, women, and crime. After a while, Nanu realizes that the ghost of Siddhi (Patralekhaa) accompanies him at his posh flat in Noida. Siddhi turns out to be the girl he tried to save from the accident and her after becoming ghost tries to establish law and order in society while removing corruption.

To get rid of Siddhi, Nanu contacts her father (Rajesh Sharma) by finding his address but it seems insufficient and she remains in his flat. To make things worse he then decides to consult a ghostbuster (Shreya Narayan) which ended in total disaster. As a result, Nanu loses his interest in his work of crime and his source of livelihood came under danger.

All the drama of the climactic exchange between a con man, a mourning father, and a roving spirit comes to an emotional ending, which locks the destiny of this film. Revealing everything would be a bad closure. So, plan it with the friends or family as the consumers can compile the net payable amount with exclusive movie coupons to get cashbacks up to Rs.150.

Star Performance:

‘Nanu ki Jaanu’ bring back the team of Abhay Deol and Manu Rishi who gave us a similar plot before of ‘Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!’. However, this time it was only bearable by the comedy and dialogues by Abhay Deol and Manu Rishi in the first half. On the other hand, Patralekhaa’s role is limited to only 10-15 minutes, which makes her almost absent. The writers who seem to have experience only in daily soap ruined Rajesh Sharma’s role. The only thing good in this movie was the dialogues and acting of Manu Rishi.

Direction and Music Review of Nanu ki Jaanu:

This movie is directed by Faraz Haider who is known for including a message in his movies. His previous best-known work is ‘War Chod Na Yaar’, which he directed and it was praised for a great message it delivered to society.

Not only this movie falls under the banner of a good director but its writer is also a well-known one. Manu Rishi Chadha who an apart from playing a role in the movie is also the writer of it.

Nanu ki Jaanu will surely give you some great dialogues, punches, and comedy but the music it provides is unadorned. ‘Tere Thumke’ will surely draw everybody’s attention but ‘Bhoot Aaya’ fails to do the same. On the other hand, rest of the songs including ‘Kali Choti’, ‘Jai Mata Di’ and ‘Tujhe Dekhti Hai Nazar’ are very bad because of loud background score by Dhruv Dhalla.

Expert Critics Reviews:

For a movie to be a blockbuster then apart from a good script, good opening and great cast, it should also have good critic reviews. Let us see some critic reviews and maybe they can justify the ratings of this movie.

Scroll.in raised a question about the scenario of the Bollywood and Abhay Deol’s circumstances for opting this movie. By comparing the previous movie of Abhay Deol and Manu Rishi together with Nanu ki Jaanu, they wrote that this movie is a horrific dark comedy which contains bad dialogues and poor execution.

Bollywood Hungama said that Nanu ki Jaanu does not only provide a bad beginning but it has a bad ending as well. They criticized Manu Rishi Chadha and added that his adaptation along with his screenplay is tremendously low.

Times of India gave it 2.5 stars out of 5 and wrote that this movie is a poor remake of the Tamil movie Pissau which was funnier than Nanu ki Jaanu.

Box Office collection of Nanu ki Jaanu:

The first trailer for this movie was launched on 26 March 2018 and the movie was released on 20 April 2018. From the trailer to the release this movie was not able to create a hype and attract the audience. Blame it on the direction or the plot or the performance, this movie could not manage to entertain the audience as a whole.

On the first day, it collected only 0.75 crores and at the end of the opening weekend only 3.10 crores only. Therefore, this movie earned only a total of Rs. 4 crores only making it a flop movie.

Conclusion: Calling this as an average movie, before calculating the performance might be unjust. Every film covers a lot of hard work and research of the cast & crew which deserves a one time watch from the fans. If it is made for you, dive into the significance of the movie characters. There are many online websites which provides the ease of booking movie tickets through online means. Say no missing the fun of horror & comedy!
